Nick Wilke is Ulfert's second born child. Born in Kentucky, due to his father's career Nick found himself living in Germany, Italy and Switzerland, and later in Iowa City, Iowa. Finally he ended up in Hawaii where he currently works and reisdes.

His whole life, Nck has loved to "work with his hands" and make things. This passion landed him several types of jobs over the years, but he eventually found his calling and his niche when he decided to work with metal full time, which he has been doing for over a decade now. He began with a small workshop in the downstairs of his personal home, but he now has a large fully equipped shop from which he works.

Although he has the ability to work with a wide variety of materials, Nick's preferred medium is stainless steel. In Hawaii, rust and corrosion is an often encountered problem, so stainless stell is a very practical material for construction. Nick's rust free works began with simple but sturdy house brackets and hurricane clips, and later he began making his highly sought after truck racks, perfect for construction workers and surfers.

But perhaps the most impressive works of Nick's are his decorative works, such as elegant modern gates, staircases, countertops and many other pieces. Nick's works of this type grace some of Kauai's absolute finest homes today.

A few samples of Nick's work are below. If you think Nick's creations may be right for your next project, send him an email at nick@wilkearts.com.
